Mazako, a Frederick restaurant known for introducing authentic Afghan cuisine to the local dining scene, has announced it will permanently close later this month, just months after opening.
Located at 911-B North East Street, the restaurant debuted in November 2025 as a new venture from Wais and Belle Noorzai, the owners of The Orchard Restaurant in Frederick. In its short run, Mazako quickly built a strong following, earning a 4.6 rating on Google and a 4.8 rating on Yelp, reflecting its warm reception from the community.
In a message shared with customers, the restaurant said it will officially close on Saturday, April 18, 2026. “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close our doors on Saturday, April 18, 2026. It has been an honor to introduce Afghan cuisine to Frederick and we sincerely thank you for your support and patronage,” the statement read.
The owners added that the decision comes as they shift focus toward family and other business commitments. “At this time, we need to prioritize our family and other business commitments, and we believe this is the right step forward for us. We truly appreciate your understanding.”
Mazako invited customers to visit during its final week of service for one last opportunity to enjoy its menu. “We would be grateful to see you during our final week of business. Stop by and see us and enjoy all your favorite dishes one last time!”
