In the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Judge J. Bradford McCullough sentenced Edward Maurice Bryant, 52, of Columbia, to 108 years in prison, suspending all but 15 years to serve, followed by five years of supervised probation upon release.
The sentencing took place on April 14, 2026. Bryant previously pleaded guilty on March 4, 2026, to multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of theft over $100,000, one count of theft between $1,500 and $25,000, and one count of fourth-degree attempted burglary.
The charges stem from a series of incidents between December 2024 and August 2025 in which Bryant entered private residences in Bethesda, Potomac, and Rockville and stole valuables. Authorities said his method involved entering homes through second-story windows, targeting primary and secondary bedrooms, and taking items such as jewelry, cash, handbags, and other valuables. In total, six homes were burglarized, and there was one additional attempted burglary.
On August 16, 2025, officers with the Montgomery County Police Department used a drone to monitor Bryant after observing behavior consistent with preparing for a burglary. Footage showed him parking near Temple Street and Valley Road in Bethesda, riding a bicycle to the 6000 block of Cardigan Road, and entering a home through a second-floor window. He remained inside for about 20 minutes before leaving and returning to his vehicle, where he was arrested. A subsequent search of his Columbia residence recovered items believed to be linked to the burglaries. The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Jordan Kramer.
