First Look at New Indian Street Food and Buffet Restaurant Mirchi Dhaba

Mirchi Dhaba is now in its soft opening phase at 18280 Contour Road in Montgomery Village Plaza in Gaithersburg, taking over the former Chopathi Indian Kitchen space next to Patel Brothers Farmers Market. Members from the Taste MoCo team stopped in and created a video of the experience that can be seen below.

The restaurant is operated by Neel Kamal of Spice Holdings LLC, who also owns Royal Tandoor, and features a menu of North and South Indian cuisine, including a lunch buffet that began last week. Mirchi Dhaba also offers a full bar, adding a range of cocktails, beer, and wine to complement its dishes.

The menu leans heavily into Indian street food, with the appetizers section dedicated to popular roadside-style bites. Labeled as Indian street food, options include items like aloo chaat papri, shakarkandi chaat, and dahi sev puri, along with favorites such as vegetable pakora and samosas.

From the tandoor, the restaurant offers a variety of grilled specialties cooked in a traditional clay oven. Selections include achari paneer tikka, dhaba tandoori chicken served in half or full portions, lamb seekh kebabs, lamb chops, and seafood options like saffron salmon tikka and shrimp.

Entrées feature classic chicken dishes served with basmati rice, including butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, chicken saagwala, and desi ghee chicken karahi, along with a traditional dhaba-style chicken curry.

Mirchi Dhaba’s sister restaurant, Royal Tandoor, has gained a reputation for its design and dining experience.
