Walmart to Remodel 10 Maryland Stores in 2026

Walmart announced plans to remodel 10 stores across Maryland in 2026 as part of a broader effort to modernize its shopping experience and expand services for customers statewide. The company’s only Montgomery County location, in Germantown, is not included in the current remodeling plans.

The upgrades are part of Walmart’s ongoing reinvestment strategy, which focuses on improving both in-store and digital experiences. Customers can expect updated layouts, enhanced technology, and expanded services aimed at making shopping faster and more convenient, including delivery options that can bring items to customers’ doors in as little as an hour.

Across Maryland, remodeled stores will feature new and expanded offerings such as free pharmacy delivery for Walmart+ members, including medications like GLP-1s, and improved in-store navigation through the Walmart app. The app also allows customers to locate items more easily and book services like appointments at Auto Care Centers.

Nationally, Walmart plans to remodel more than 650 Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets this year. Over the past five years, the company has invested more than $146 million into upgrading stores across Maryland.

“Our stores have long been part of communities across Maryland, and we’re excited to keep investing in their future,” said Annie Walker, Senior Vice President of Walmart’s East Business Unit. “By modernizing our stores, we’re making shopping faster, easier, and more convenient, all while empowering our teams to serve customers better and creating local opportunity.”

The remodels are also expected to bring economic benefits, including construction jobs and long-term employment opportunities in retail, pharmacy, and store leadership. Customers may also notice expanded product selections, including brands like De’Longhi, Oura, Jessica Simpson, and Lemme, along with more interactive displays.

Updated pharmacies will offer affordable medications, vaccines, and clinical services, while Vision Centers are being redesigned for improved privacy and convenience, carrying brands such as Nike, Calvin Klein, and DKNY, along with services like free cleanings and adjustments.

Beyond its stores, Walmart highlighted its continued investment in Maryland communities. Over the past year, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation donated more than $9 million to local nonprofits and provided over 4 million pounds of food to help address hunger. The company has also launched its annual “Fight Hunger, Spark Change” campaign to further support food banks and families in need.

As part of the 2026 plan, Walmart expects to complete remodels at stores in Abingdon, Catonsville, Columbia, Easton, Mount Airy, North East, Oakland, Pocomoke City, Prince Frederick, and Severn. The company noted that timelines may shift depending on construction schedules and other factors.
