Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a reported apartment fire in the 100 block of Halpine Road in Rockville.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, crews arrived to find a fire in a third-floor bedroom of a four-story residential building, where the sprinkler system had activated and helped contain the fire.
One elderly female occupant was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The fire was extinguished, but water damage resulted in eight apartment units being displaced. Building management is assisting affected residents.
