Montgomery County Series ‘Deep End’ Hosting Free Park Screening in Kensington

A locally produced TV series recognized for its artistic impact is bringing its story to the big screen with a community-focused outdoor event in Kensington. “Deep End,” a Montgomery County-based indie series, will host an outdoor screening on Saturday, May 2 at 8pm at Clum-Kennedy Park. The event is free and open to the public.

The series, created by D.C. playwright John Becker, has gained attention for its mix of dark comedy and social commentary, exploring themes of political division and isolation while highlighting local talent and businesses. It previously received a $5,000 grant from the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County for artistic excellence and community impact.

Organizers say the upcoming screening is about more than just watching the show. “Our goal is to represent light in a time of darkness,” organizers shared. “We want people to see that art can still create connection, resilience, and hope.”

The event will include appearances from cast members, along with remarks from a local candidate prior to the screening. Local bakery Nut N Muffin will also be on site with food available for purchase.

Set in a fictional Maryland campground, “Deep End” blends mystery, satire, and indie storytelling while continuing to support the local creative community through its production and partnerships. The series is currently streaming globally on Fawesome TV.
