The last MCPS used car and computer sale of the school year will take place from 9-11am on Saturday, May 9 at Thomas Edison High School of Technology, located at 12501 Dalewood Drive in Silver Spring.
The Montgomery County Students Automotive Trades Foundation (ATF) and Information Technology Foundation (ITF) will offer a selection of used vehicles and refurbished computers, all restored by students as part of their classroom and lab work.
The items available for purchase have been reconditioned through hands-on instruction, giving students the opportunity to apply both technical and customer service skills in a real-world setting. The sale also allows students to earn Student Service Learning hours while gaining valuable experience interacting with the community.
The Automotive Trades Foundation operates as a licensed, student-run used car dealership, where students gain experience in vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, repair, sales, and customer service. Established in 1978 through partnerships with local industry, the program combines classroom learning with extensive shop work. Many seniors also spend two days each week working at area dealerships, where they receive additional training and begin building early career connections.
Students in the Information Technology Foundation program refurbish computers that will also be available for purchase at the event. Both programs are designed to provide practical workforce experience while giving the community a chance to support career and technical education by purchasing affordable vehicles and equipment.
Inventory details are expected to be released closer to the sale date.
