Catherine’s Caribbean Italian Fusion Restaurant to Celebrate Grand Opening in Laurel

Catherine’s Caribbean Italian Fusion Restaurant will celebrate its official grand opening on Saturday, May 2, from 12pm to 3pm at 3325 Marketplace in Laurel.

The restaurant, which has been in a soft opening phase since August 2025, offers a fusion of Caribbean and Italian cuisine, pairing bold tropical flavors with classic Italian dishes. Menu items include Jerk Bruschetta and Oxtail Lasagna, along with fine wines and signature cocktails.

Owner Donovan Vassell, a Russett community resident originally from Kingston, Jamaica, opened Catherine’s after seeing a need for an upscale dining option in Laurel. The restaurant is named in honor of his mother, Catherine.

Since its soft opening, Catherine’s has welcomed guests from across Maryland, Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. In addition to its food, the restaurant has highlighted live entertainment, customer service, and an inviting atmosphere as part of the dining experience.

The grand opening celebration will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, interactive games for adults and children, and a Jerk Chicken Eating Contest. Reservations are required. Catherine’s also offers takeout and catering services. For more information, call 410-991-6291.
