Suspect in White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting Has Ties to Montgomery County

Authorities investigating the April 25 shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner are examining connections between the suspect and Montgomery County, Maryland, according to reporting from Reuters and statements shared by Fox News correspondent Jacqui Heinrich.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of California, was arrested after allegedly opening fire near a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton, prompting a rapid evacuation of attendees, including the president. One Secret Service officer was injured but survived.

As part of the investigation, federal agents and Montgomery County Police interviewed Allen’s sister at a residence in Rockville. According to details reported by Heinrich, Allen had stored multiple firearms at the family home without his parents’ knowledge and had expressed increasingly radical views in recent years.

Investigators are also reviewing Allen’s activities, including reported firearms training and possible affiliations with outside groups. Authorities have not indicated that anyone else in Montgomery County was involved, but the connection is part of the broader effort to understand the suspect’s background and motives.
