Permanent Signage Installed at Steeze Burger With Opening in Sight

Permanent signage is now up for Steeze Burger in Gaithersburg, and the restaurant the Washington Post ranked Steeze Burger as the number 1 burger in the DMV (DC Metro Area) aims to open in the coming weeks.

The highly anticipated burger spot is taking over 12141 Darnestown Road in the Shops at Potomac Valley shopping center. The space was previously slated for Kong Dog and was long known as the former home of Neal’s Bagels before the bagel shop relocated to Kentlands.

Founded by Laytonsville resident Hunter Karametos, Steeze Burger launched as a pop-up in 2022 and quickly built a following across the region. In 2023, the concept was named the top burger in the DC area by The Washington Post, helping fuel momentum toward a permanent brick-and-mortar location.

Back in January, Steeze Burger appeared before Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services for a liquor license hearing as part of the opening process. At the time, the restaurant was targeting a Spring 2026 debut. It now appears they’ll make the tail end of that projection.

Karametos previously described the permanent location as a major milestone for the brand and thanked supporters for helping transform the once-pop-up operation into a full restaurant.
