Man Fatally Shot Outside Marriott Hotel

Montgomery County Police are investigating a homicide after a man was fatally shot Thursday morning outside a Marriott hotel in North Bethesda.

According to police, 2nd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded at approximately 11:37 am to the 5700 block of Marinelli Road for the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a 41-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the parking lot of the hotel. The victim, who police say was a guest at the hotel, was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts by officers and fire rescue personnel.

Police say there is currently no suspect information available. Officers, assisted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Metro Transit Police, canvassed the area and nearby Metro trains in an effort to locate the suspect. The Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. Authorities say the information released so far remains preliminary, and the identity of the victim will be released following notification of next of kin.
