FOX 5 is bringing its annual Zip Trip series back to Montgomery County this week, with Gaithersburg selected as the first stop of the Summer 2026 tour.
The live morning broadcast will take place Friday, May 22, from 7am to 11am at Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg. Per Rio, “Kick off summer with FOX 5-DC Morning Show at Rio on Friday, May 22, as they launch their annual Summer 2026 Zip Trip series live from the lakefront!”
The FOX 5 team will broadcast from the Uncle Julio’s parking lot at 231 Rio Blvd, overlooking the lakefront. Organizers say attendees can expect restaurant spotlights, community features, local businesses, entertainment, and other summer-themed festivities throughout the morning.
Now entering its 12th year, the Zip Trip series visits communities across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., highlighting local attractions and the people behind them. FOX 5’s anchors, reporters, and crew broadcast live from each location during the morning show.
Gaithersburg marks the first stop of the 2026 season. FOX 5 is also scheduled to return to Montgomery County later this summer with a second Zip Trip planned for Rockville on August 28.
