The Gaithersburg Police Department announced that patrol officers arrested a 36-year-old driver during a recent traffic stop after allegedly discovering a loaded Smith & Wesson .38 Special revolver and suspected crack cocaine inside the vehicle.
According to police, the driver was stopped for a traffic violation and was determined to be impaired. Further investigation revealed the driver is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a prior felony conviction.
The individual was charged with driving under the influence and impaired driving offenses, possession with intent to distribute CDS, illegal possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and additional firearm-related violations.
