Ledo Pizza has officially expanded its footprint in Maryland with the opening of a new location serving the Lake Linganore community.
The restaurant announced that its newest location is now open at 10162 Old National Pike, Suite 200, in Ijamsville. The opening brings the Maryland-based pizza chain to one of Frederick County’s fastest-growing areas.
For many Marylanders, Ledo Pizza is more than just another pizza restaurant. The brand traces its roots back to 1955, when the original Ledo Restaurant opened in Adelphi in Prince George’s County. The family-run establishment quickly gained a loyal following thanks to its rectangular pizzas, flaky biscuity crust, sweet tomato sauce, and smoked provolone cheese, a combination that has become synonymous with the region’s distinctive style of pizza.
The chain’s signature rectangular shape was born out of practicality. When Ledo first opened, round pizza pans were still relatively new, so the founders chose rectangular pans instead. The shape became part of the restaurant’s identity and remains one of its most recognizable trademarks today.
