The Sandy Spring Museum’s annual Strawberry Festival returns this Saturday, June 6, and organizers are encouraging attendees to plan ahead with tickets as the popular event approaches its attendance cap.
The Strawberry Festival takes place at Sandy Spring Museum, located at 17901 Bentley Road. The museum has hosted the beloved event since 1981.
Often described as a giant block party, picnic, neighborhood gathering, and community celebration rolled into one, the festival features live music, food vendors, family-friendly activities, cultural heritage demonstrations, a petting zoo, strawberry-themed contests, local craft vendors, a giant plant sale, regional food offerings, local brews, and the event’s signature attraction, the “world’s greatest strawberry shortcake.”
With just days remaining until the festival, organizers have released details about overflow parking and complimentary shuttle service designed to help visitors avoid traffic and parking delays.
Attendees can park at either Sherwood Elementary School or Sharp Street Church and take a free shuttle directly to the festival grounds. As an added bonus, visitors who use one of the designated satellite lots will receive a coupon for $1 off a strawberry shortcake.
Festival organizers also noted that patrons using accessible parking spaces at Sharp Street Church can be picked up directly at their vehicles by the shuttle bus.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance, as attendance is capped at 5,000 guests. Sandy Spring Museum members can take advantage of discounted admission pricing as part of their membership benefits.
Organizers remind attendees that admission purchases are credit card only, with no cash accepted at the gate.
