After 45 years of dedicated service, St. Elizabeth School in Rockville is celebrating the retirement of one of its most recognizable and beloved members of the school community, longtime Building Supervisor Nilo Abril.
For generations of students, parents, faculty, and alumni, Mr. Abril has been far more than the person responsible for maintaining the school building. He has been a steady presence, a familiar face in the hallways, and someone who helped make St. Elizabeth feel like home for thousands of families over the decades.
The school recently announced Mr. Abril’s retirement and is inviting current and former members of the St. Elizabeth community to share memories, messages of appreciation, and well wishes as he prepares for this next chapter.
In a message shared by the school, St. Elizabeth described Mr. Abril as an important part of the institution’s identity, noting that his dedication and commitment helped shape the experience of countless students and families throughout his 45-year career.
While students, teachers, and administrators have come and gone over the years, Mr. Abril remained a constant presence, witnessing generations of families pass through the school’s doors and playing a behind-the-scenes role in ensuring the campus remained welcoming, safe, and ready for learning each day.
The school hopes to make Mr. Abril’s retirement as special as the legacy he leaves behind by collecting notes, cards, and messages from those whose lives he touched during his decades of service.
