The Maryland Department of Commerce has redesignated Montgomery County’s Wheaton Arts & Entertainment District for an additional 10 years, extending the designation through 2036.
The renewal allows the district to continue participating in Maryland’s Arts & Entertainment District program, which supports arts, culture and economic development initiatives.
Originally designated in 2006, the district has grown into a center for arts, cultural programming, public art, small businesses and community events. The redesignation comes as Montgomery County continues investments in projects including Marian Fryer Town Plaza, the Wheaton Library and Recreation Center, and the planned Wheaton Arts & Cultural Center, while supporting events such as Taste of Wheaton, HalloWheaton, the Wheaton Arts Parade and the TGIF Summer Concert Series.
