Less than three weeks after opening its new Leesburg, VA location, SOKO Butcher says demand has far exceeded expectations. This morning, its popularity became a topic of discussion on 106.7’s The Junkies morning show.
Last Sunday, the popular butcher shop and deli shared with The MoCoShow that it sold nearly 10,000 sandwiches during its first two-plus weeks of operation at 15 Loudoun Street in downtown Leesburg. The volume was so high that the shop sold out on multiple days and even paused sandwich production for a day to give staff a much-needed break.
Addressing customers on social media, SOKO wrote, “Yes Yes Yes!! We Have Sandwiches!! We promise we will always post early if for some reason we don’t, or if we sell out.” The strong debut follows years of growing popularity for the Takoma Park-based business, which has earned a loyal following throughout the region.
Last summer, The Washington Post asked readers and food writers, “What’s the best sandwich in DC?” and ranked winners across eleven categories. In the Philly cheesesteak category, the top spot went to SOKO Butcher’s cheesesteak, known as “The Philly,” made with prime rib and house-made cheese wiz.
The Leesburg location officially opened on May 22 and features indoor and outdoor seating along with an all-day happy hour. SOKO has also previously discussed plans for a future Arlington location.
Founded by chef and butcher Brad Feickert, SOKO Butcher has built its reputation around locally sourced, ethically raised meats, traditional butchery, and a menu of premium sandwiches, burgers, breakfast items, and house-made specialties.
