MCFRS has provided an update to the crash in Bethesda earlier this evening. Units responded to an incident at Wisconsin Avenue and Battery Lane involving a charter bus that reportedly experienced a braking malfunction while traveling on MD-355.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the bus struck multiple light poles, bringing down wires and causing significant property damage. Several passengers aboard the bus were evaluated for minor injuries, and one patient was transported for further medical evaluation.
MD-355 remains closed between Chestnut Street and South Chelsea Lane as emergency crews continue operations, assess damage, and work to safely clear the scene. Drivers are urged to avoid the area, expect significant delays, and seek alternate routes while the closure remains in place.
