Koala Kreme will officially celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, June 20, at noon at its new location in The Square at Rockville. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with the local Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for Friday ahead of the public grand opening festivities.
The dessert shop is taking over the former Marble Slab Creamery space at 100 Gibbs Street, Unit I, which had been home to the ice cream chain for more than a decade before it closed in September 2025.
As previously reported, Koala Kreme signed a lease for the space earlier this year and is bringing a menu that currently includes soft-serve ice cream and frozen yogurt, gelato, real fruit smoothies, milkshakes, ice cream cakes and ice cream sandwiches. The business has also announced plans to add boba drinks and dirty sodas in the coming weeks. Customers attending the grand opening can expect giveaways, free samples and special offers throughout the celebration.
