MCPD: Disruptive House Parties Could Cost Hosts Thousands In Fines

Montgomery County Police are reminding residents that hosting a large, disruptive house party could come with a hefty price tag.

In a social media post, MCPD warned that if a gathering includes features such as a parking attendant, wristbands, a cover charge, and a line out the door, it may have crossed the line from a private gathering to a disruptive event.

Police noted that large house parties that disturb surrounding neighborhoods can result in fines ranging from $500 to $5,000.

The department encouraged residents to be mindful of their neighbors and avoid creating late-night disturbances, particularly during the summer months when social gatherings tend to increase.

“Keep it small. Or pay it all,” MCPD wrote, adding, “Have fun. Make memories. Just don’t make yourself the reason the whole neighborhood is awake at 2 a.m.”
