Montgomery County Police highlighted an unusual arrest that occurred on Monday, June 15, 2026, when 6th District officers responded to Shady Grove Road in Rockville for a report involving an adult allegedly soliciting a minor for sex.
According to police, the suspect fled on foot when officers attempted to take him into custody.
During the pursuit, a community member offered his bicycle to one of the pursuing officers, allowing the officer to continue after the suspect. Police said the officer caught up with the suspect moments later, and the individual was taken into custody without further incident. MCPD credited the community member’s assistance and noted that protecting the community is a team effort.
The name of the suspect was not included in the social media post by MCPD.
