The evening begins with a performance by Run for Cover at 7 p.m. Mayor and Council members will offer greetings at 8:30 p.m., followed by the National Anthem performed by the Victorian Lyric Opera Company. Run for Cover will return to the stage from 9 to 9:13 p.m. before the fireworks display begins at 9:15 p.m. The fireworks show is expected to last approximately 20 minutes.
Attendees are encouraged to bring beach chairs or blankets for seating, although chairs and blankets are not permitted within 100 feet of the stage. Outside prepared food is allowed, but outside alcohol, tents, grills, drones, laser pointers, glass containers, noisemakers and recreational wheeled devices are prohibited. Food and beverage vendors, restrooms, an ADA viewing platform, first aid services and bike parking will be available on site.
The event will take place at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park, located at 1800 Piccard Drive. Most activities will be held rain or shine, with any weather-related cancellations announced by the city. Sponsors for this year’s celebration include Renewal by Andersen and School of Rock Rockville.
There will also be fireworks displays in the City of Gaithersburg on June 27, Kensington on July 3, and Germantown on July 4.
