Brew Belly, located at 18065 Georgia Ave. in Olney, has announced the return of its annual Cheesesteak Eating Contest on Saturday, July 4. The winner will earn bragging rights as Brew Belly’s Grand Champion and receive free cheesesteaks from the restaurant for an entire year.
Contestants will compete to see who can finish a 2-pound “Wiz Wit” footlong cheesesteak the fastest. The champion will receive one free cheesesteak per week for 52 weeks. Along with the eating competition, Brew Belly will host a fundraiser benefiting Hero Dogs, which will be on-site during the event. Organizers said entry fees from the contest will be donated to the nonprofit. While Hero Dogs will attend, no dogs will be available for adoption.
Known for its creative cheesesteak offerings, Brew Belly serves specialties such as the “Big Matt Style,” topped with American cheese, lettuce, pickles, fried onions and Everything Bagel seasoning, and the “Seoul Style,” featuring mushrooms, soy-hoisin sauce, chile mayo and pickles. The menu also includes poutine, wings, loaded hot dogs and a rotating selection of 24 locally focused beers on tap.
