Montgomery County Police have identified the victim in Friday’s fatal hit-and-run collision in Silver Spring as 61-year-old Hanna Wegayhou of Silver Spring.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:14 p.m. on June 19 at the intersection of Crestmoor Drive and Colesville Road in Four Corners, where investigators say Wegayhou was struck by a vehicle while crossing Crestmoor Drive. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying the vehicle involved. Police believe the striking vehicle is a black SUV with tinted windows and possible front-end or right-front damage. The SUV was last seen around 1:17 p.m. traveling north on Colesville Road toward New Hampshire Avenue. The driver failed to remain at the scene following the collision.
