Unofficial results from the 2026 Gubernatorial Primary Election in Montgomery County show several notable countywide and district-level races beginning to take shape, with all 257 election day precincts reporting as of the latest refresh at 4:04am on Wednesday, June 24.
In the Democratic primary for governor and lieutenant governor, Wes Moore and Aruna Miller received 81,865 votes in Montgomery County, or 91.43% of the vote. Eric S. Felber and LaTrece Hawkins Lytes received 7,670 votes, or 8.57%. On the Republican side, Dan Cox and Rob Krop led the county with 4,383 votes, or 46.29%, followed by Ed Hale and Tyrone Keys, Jr. with 2,148 votes, or 22.69%.
In the Democratic primary for Montgomery County Executive, Will Jawando led with 36,517 votes, or 40.84%, followed by Andrew Friedson with 29,968 votes, or 33.51%. Evan Glass received 19,291 votes, or 21.57%, while Mithun Banerjee and Peter James each received less than 3%. In the Republican primary, Esther Wells led with 5,240 votes, or 60.38%, while Shelly Skolnick received 3,439 votes, or 39.62%.
In the Democratic County Council At-Large race, where voters could select up to four candidates, Marc Elrich led the field with 45,124 votes. Laurie-Anne Sayles followed with 38,111 votes, Scott Evan Goldberg received 36,623 votes, and Fatmata Barrie received 32,220 votes. Karla Silvestre was next with 31,380 votes, followed by Josie Caballero with 28,519 votes. On the Republican side, Sherwin Wells was unopposed and received 8,036 votes.
In County Council district races, Julie Yang led the Democratic primary in District 1 with 8,129 votes, or 50.44%. Marilyn Balcombe was unopposed in District 2 and received 9,509 votes. In District 3, Jud Ashman led with 4,931 votes, or 45.43%, narrowly ahead of Izola “Zola” Shaw, who received 4,749 votes, or 43.75%. Kate Stewart led District 4 with 12,598 votes, or 82.04%, while Kristin Mink led District 5 with 9,714 votes, or 83.15%. Natali Fani-González led District 6 with 6,586 votes, or 63.41%, and Dawn Luedtke led District 7 with 6,528 votes, or 65.50%.
In Congressional races, Jamie Raskin led the Democratic primary in District 8 with 65,552 votes, or 92.07%, while Cheryl Riley led the Republican primary with 2,686 votes, or 44.03%. In District 6, April McClain Delaney led the Democratic primary in Montgomery County with 7,884 votes, or 48.36%, followed by David Trone with 5,891 votes, or 36.14%. Chris Burnett led the Republican primary in District 6 with 1,095 votes, or 40.50%. In District 4, Glenn Ivey led the Democratic primary with 1,571 votes, or 67.11%.
In Board of Education races, Omar Lazo led the at-large contest with 30,090 votes, or 33.11%, followed by Brenda M. Diaz with 27,991 votes, or 30.80%. For District 3, Sally A. McCarthy led with 40,736 votes, or 45.98%, followed by Cassandra “Cassi” Sung with 15,528 votes, or 17.53%.
In the Circuit Court judicial race, voters could select up to four candidates. On Democratic ballots, Sharon V. Burrell led with 66,005 votes, followed by Catherine H. McQueen with 63,728, Victor M. Del Pino with 56,379, James J. Dietrich with 54,026, and Marylin Pierre with 31,232. On Republican ballots, James J. Dietrich led with 7,189 votes, followed by Catherine H. McQueen with 7,009, Victor M. Del Pino with 6,725, Sharon V. Burrell with 6,678, and Marylin Pierre with 2,808.
Other countywide Democratic results included John McCarthy receiving 76,962 votes in the State’s Attorney race, Karen Bushell receiving 76,404 votes for Clerk of the Circuit Court, Barbara Ebel leading the Register of Wills race with 30,949 votes, and Will Milam leading the Sheriff’s race with 48,821 votes, or 65.41%.
