Everything You Need To Know About Gaithersburg’s SummerFest On Saturday, June 27

Gaithersburg’s annual SummerFest returns to Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm on Saturday, June 27, with an evening of live music, food trucks, family activities, local craft beer and a fireworks spectacular.

The free event runs from 6pm to 11pm, with fireworks scheduled for approximately 9:30pm. Following the show, attendees are encouraged to stay for the SummerGlo After Party featuring live music, LED performers, jugglers, stilt walkers, glow merchandise, a fully lit playground and food vendors to help ease post-fireworks traffic.

Live entertainment throughout the evening will be provided by K Street Union, with performances beginning at 6pm. Mayor and City Council members will welcome attendees from 8pm to 8:15pm, followed by another live music set before a special aerial illumination performance leading into the fireworks.

More than two dozen food vendors will be on site serving everything from barbecue and tacos to lobster rolls, funnel cakes, ice cream and kettle corn. Beer lovers can also enjoy selections from Liquidity Aleworks, Silver Branch Brewing Company and Waredaca Brewing Company from 6pm to 9pm. Beer sales are limited to guests 21 and older with valid identification.

Families will find plenty to do throughout the evening, including inflatables, carnival games, field games, face painting, balloon twisting, bubble performances, sponsor activities, a 360-degree photo booth and America 250 selfie stations with special treats.

Visitors should expect traffic impacts around the event. Summit Avenue between Hutton Street and South Frederick Avenue will close to vehicles beginning at 5pm, and no left turns or crossovers will be allowed on Route 355 between Cedar and Central avenues during the event. Lane reductions are also expected along Route 355 near Bohrer Park. Drivers are reminded not to stop along Route 355 to watch the fireworks, as violators may be ticketed and unattended vehicles may be towed.

Limited parking is available at Bohrer Park, but attendees are encouraged to take advantage of free parking in Olde Towne Gaithersburg, located about a quarter-mile away, and walk to the event. Crossing guards will be stationed at South Summit Avenue, Education Boulevard and Deer Park Road to assist pedestrians.

SummerFest will be held rain or shine. If lightning or thunder is detected, activities will pause until 30 minutes after the last strike or thunder is observed. If the fireworks are canceled because of weather, they will not be rescheduled.
