MCPS Highlights Record Of Achievement As 2025-2026 School Year Ends

Montgomery County Public Schools is celebrating the conclusion of the 2025-2026 school year by recognizing the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 and thanking students, families, educators and staff for another successful year.

In a joint end-of-year message, Board of Education President Grace Rivera-Oven and Superintendent Dr. Thomas W. Taylor congratulated students on reaching the final day of school, with special recognition for this year’s graduating seniors.

“This graduating class leaves behind a legacy of achievement that will be the example for those who follow,” they wrote, highlighting accomplishments in academics, athletics, the arts, leadership and community service. As of June 17, MCPS reported:

  • 12,937 graduates

  • More than $437.5 million in scholarships earned

  • 2,628 students receiving the Maryland Seal of Biliteracy

  • More than 2.05 million community service hours completed

  • 2,452 students participating in dual enrollment programs

  • 399 students graduating with an associate degree

  • 49,869 Advanced Placement exams taken

  • 5,014 International Baccalaureate exams taken

  • An average SAT score of 1,058

  • 8,899 graduates planning to attend two- or four-year colleges

  • 239 students entering apprenticeship programs

  • 279 students entering the workforce

  • 159 students entering military service

  • 648,000 hours worked by students in work-based learning programs for high school credit

  • 15 MCPS apprentices graduating with full-time jobs in their apprenticeship fields

District leaders said the accomplishments reflect the combined efforts of students, educators, support staff, families and community partners while advancing MCPS’ Future Ready vision.

Looking ahead, MCPS noted that many students will continue learning through High School Summer School and the district’s inaugural Ignite Middle School Academy. The district also reminded families that free summer meals will be available at more than 100 locations throughout Montgomery County.

Rivera-Oven and Taylor closed the message by encouraging students, staff and families to enjoy a well-earned summer break before returning for the 2026-2027 school year in August.
