Dunk for a Cure Raises More Than $47,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Research (sponsored)

The FCSP Foundation (Fight Cancer & Stay Positive) hosted its third annual DC Dunk for a Cure at 7 Locks Brewing in Rockville, Maryland, raising more than $47,000 for Pancreatic Cancer research and bringing together Dunkees, families, friends, supporters, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners in support of a cause that impacts thousands of lives each year.

FCSP Dunk for a Cure was featured as part of 7 Locks Brewing’s Summer Kickoff event, which included two dunk tanks, over 15 local vendors, seasonal beer releases, food trucks, outdoor games, and a prize wheel for brewery giveaways. “We pride ourselves on being a place where the community can hang out and support each other,” said owner Keith Beutel. “It’s great to bring the community together for an important cause, partner with other local businesses, and see our customers having fun while enjoying a delicious beer brewed right on site.”

“Events like this are a powerful reminder of what can happen when people come together for a cause bigger than themselves,” said Jonathan Mayer, founding Board Member, and Event Host of the FCSP Foundation. “Every donation, volunteer hour, shared post, sponsorship, and dunk helped make this success possible.” Speakers throughout the event shared personal stories about the impact of Pancreatic Cancer and the urgent need for continued research funding.

Founded in honor of Geoff Shudtz, who was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer at age 35 shortly after the birth of his son, the FCSP Foundation was created to fund research, advance early detection efforts, and provide hope to patients and families facing the disease. Since its founding in 2020, the Foundation has raised more than $1 million for Pancreatic Cancer research through community-driven fundraising events and partnerships.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, volunteered, partnered, attended, shared our mission, stepped into the dunk tank, or helped spread the word,” Mayer said. “Every contribution mattered. Thank you for helping us turn grief into action and hope into
progress.”
