Free Catalytic Converter Etching Event Scheduled In Montgomery County

The Montgomery County Police Department is offering residents a free way to help protect their vehicles from catalytic converter theft through its Operation: Etch & Catch program.

The program allows residents to have their catalytic converters etched with a unique serial number and marked with paint, making the parts more difficult to sell if stolen and easier for police to identify and recover. Participants will also receive a window decal indicating their vehicle’s catalytic converter has been etched.

Appointments are available on Wednesday, July 15, and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents can register by scanning the QR code on the event flyer. The location will be shared once an appointment is confirmed.

The program is free and is made possible through partnerships with local body shops and vehicle service centers that perform the etching. Appointments can be made through the QR code below.
