Man Found Guilty in Execution-Style Gaithersburg Murder

A Montgomery County jury has convicted Quinnton Eric Brown, 39, of first-degree murder and multiple other charges in the 2024 killing of 35-year-old Delondre Sawyer, whose body was found in a wooded area off Game Preserve Road in Gaithersburg.

Prosecutors said Sawyer was driving a 2013 Honda Accord on Feb. 7, 2024, when Brown, who was seated behind him, shot him in the back of the head. Brown and his co-defendants then stripped Sawyer, left his body in the woods, stole several of his belongings and took his vehicle, which was later recovered in Germantown. Investigators believe the group had met the victim earlier that day at an apartment on Spiceberry Circle in Germantown.

Following an eight-day trial, Brown was convicted of first-degree murder, armed robbery, armed carjacking, conspiracy charges, firearm offenses and illegal possession of a firearm. He faces a potential sentence of life without the possibility of parole plus an additional 135 years when he is sentenced on Oct. 1. A co-defendant was convicted in 2025, while a third defendant previously pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.
