Mackie’s Barbecue Owner Buys Next 200 Pupusas For Customers At La Posada In Silver Spring

Mackie’s Barbecue owner Cameron Makki recently stopped by La Posada in Silver Spring and shared that he is helping keep the momentum going for the family-owned restaurant by purchasing the next 200 pupusas for customers.

In a social media post, Makki wrote, “Paying for the next 200 pupusas to support this incredible family business that is going through a rough patch – mention MACKIES for your free pupusa!” The offer is available while supplies last at La Posada, located at 8545 Piney Branch Rd. in Silver Spring.

Last week, The MoCoShow shared the story of La Posada after the owner’s granddaughter posted an emotional video explaining that she had given herself 60 days to help save her grandmother’s restaurant before returning to college.

The granddaughter shared that her grandmother, a single mother of three and grandmother of five, has spent the past 20 years running the Salvadoran and Mexican restaurant, which was once bustling with customers. She said business gradually declined, not because the food changed, but because people simply forgot about the restaurant.

The video quickly resonated online, generating thousands of comments and shares across Instagram and TikTok, and an outpouring of community support from people promising to visit.

Mackie’s gesture adds to that growing support, giving even more people a reason to stop by, enjoy one of La Posada’s signature pupusas, and help support a longtime local family business.
