After 25 Years, Rockville’s Mosaic Cuisine Looking For New Owner To Continue Its Legacy

After 25 years of serving Montgomery County, Rockville’s Mosaic Cuisine (186 Halpine Rd.) is looking toward its next chapter. The family-owned French fusion restaurant has been listed for sale as owner and founder Chef Thierry J. explores retirement and searches for the right person to carry on the business he established in 2001.

The listing is for the business itself, and Mosaic Cuisine will remain open while the search for a new owner continues. According to the business listing, Mosaic Cuisine is being offered for $300,000 as a turnkey business. The sale includes the restaurant’s furniture, fixtures, equipment, and inventory, while the space itself is leased. The listing also states the restaurant generates approximately $1.2 million in annual revenue and has a lease occupying a 2,795SF space extending through September 2030.

In a statement to The MoCoShow, the restaurant emphasized that the listing should not be interpreted as a closure. “Mosaic Cuisine is not closing. After 25 wonderful years serving the Montgomery County community, we have decided to explore the possibility of finding a new owner who shares our passion for the restaurant and can continue building on what we’ve created,” the restaurant said.

“This is simply an opportunity for someone to take over an established, well-loved business with a loyal customer base, not a closure or liquidation. We remain fully open and continue serving our guests as usual while continuing to grow our catering services and introduce new dining experiences.”

Located on Rockville Pike, Mosaic Cuisine has built a reputation for blending French cuisine with flavors and inspirations from around the world. According to the restaurant’s website, the menu features everything from Belgian waffle French toast and Italian-inspired tomato pesto potage to French classics like Bœuf Bourguignon and Steak Pommes Frites, alongside American favorites. The restaurant is also known for its signature waffle brunch, extensive coffee bar, handcrafted cocktails, and accommodating a variety of dietary preferences.

For Chef Thierry J., the goal is not simply to sell a business, but to find someone who will continue the legacy built over the past quarter century. “Mosaic Cuisine is actively operating and the listing represents an exciting opportunity for the right buyer to continue its legacy,” the restaurant said. Mosaic Cuisine remains open and continues serving guests at its Rockville location while the search for its next owner is underway.
