The City of Gaithersburg has once again been recognized for excellence in financial reporting, receiving the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 48th consecutive year.
The award recognizes the City’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. An independent panel determined the report met the program’s high standards, including presenting financial information in a clear, transparent, and easy-to-understand manner for community members and other stakeholders.
The Certificate of Achievement is considered the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. “This award highlights our team’s strong commitment to clear, transparent financial reporting,” said Janice Hartman, Director of the Department of Finance and Administration. “Our staff works diligently to ensure the City’s financial information is accurate, accessible, and easy for the community to understand.”
The Government Finance Officers Association, which represents more than 25,000 government finance professionals across the United States and Canada, promotes excellence in government finance through best practices, professional development, and research.
