The Montgomery County Board of Education approved a series of administrative appointments during its July 16 meeting, filling leadership positions across school administration, special education, curriculum, information technology, and school leadership.
Among the appointments, Nicole A. Sosik was named Associate Superintendent of School Leadership and Improvement.
Several leadership positions within special education and student support services were also filled. Dr. Jamila W. Denney, formerly principal of Pine Crest Elementary School, was appointed Director of the Division of School Leadership and Improvement. Shannon M. Farmer, previously coordinator of the Department of School Counseling Services, was named Director of the Department of Special Education Services. Dr. Lisa M. Gaillard-Jones was appointed Director of the Department of Special Education and Related Services. Kishara A. Perry, previously coordinator in the Department of Special Education Services, was named Executive Director of the Division of Specialized Support Services, while Dr. LaTonya R. Williams, also previously a coordinator in the Department of Special Education Services, was appointed Director of the Department of Inclusive and Specialized Learning Supports.
The Board also approved several principal appointments. Jeanni M. Chin, previously assistant principal at Farquhar Middle School, was named principal of Roberto W. Clemente Middle School. Dr. Clifford J. Cooper Jr., formerly principal intern at Robert Frost Middle School, was appointed principal of Garrett Park Elementary School. Dr. Joshua S. Fine, previously principal of Flower Hill Elementary School, was named principal of White Oak Middle School. Jada Langston, who had been serving as acting principal of Carl Sandburg Learning Center, was officially appointed principal.
Additional appointments include Desiree C. Adams as Supervisor of IT Operations and Delivery in the Department of Business Information Services, David Guzman, formerly a principal with Baltimore City Public Schools, as Supervisor of Community Schools, Miriam R. Plotinsky as Supervisor of Curriculum for English Language Arts, and Nicola A. Richards-Wright as Supervisor of Career and Postsecondary Partnerships.
