A trash truck fire temporarily closed a portion of Snouffer School Road in Gaithersburg on Friday afternoon.
According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Assistant Chief David Pazos, crews were dispatched to the intersection of Snouffer School Road and Sweet Autumn Drive for a reported large vehicle fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found an empty trash truck with its engine compartment on fire.
The driver safely exited the vehicle and was not injured. MCFRS said firefighters quickly brought the situation under control and began reducing the number of units on scene.
The Montgomery County Department of Police advised that Snouffer School Road is closed in both directions at Sweet Autumn Drive due to the fire and rescue response. Drivers are urged to use alternate routes and should expect delays while crews remain on scene.
