Montgomery Parks is celebrating one of Montgomery County’s most legendary stories with Bigfoot Bonanza this weekend at Little Bennett Campground in Clarksburg.
According to Montgomery Parks, the event marks the 30th anniversary of a reported Bigfoot sighting that took place on July 31, 1996, when two campers claimed they encountered an 8-foot-tall creature covered in brown hair while camping at Little Bennett. According to their account, the mysterious figure was spotted in the woods casually munching on leaves before disappearing into the forest.
To commemorate the local legend, Montgomery Parks is hosting a weekend of Bigfoot-themed activities, including crafts, a Bigfoot tracking hike, and laser tag with Bigfoot. The family-friendly event offers a fun way to explore the outdoors while celebrating one of Montgomery County’s most unusual camping stories.
Little Bennett Campground offers a variety of overnight accommodations, including traditional campsites, cabins, yurts, RV sites, and camper-ready options for visitors who want the camping experience without bringing all the gear.
