A Powerball player in Gaithersburg is $50,000 richer after purchasing a third-tier winning ticket in Monday night’s drawing.
The winning ticket was sold at Sagar Beer & Wine, located at 615 S. Frederick Ave. It was one of two $50,000 winning tickets sold in Maryland, with the other purchased at Anchor Liquors in Belcamp.
The ticket matched four of the first five winning numbers and the Powerball to win the $50,000 prize. The winning numbers were 8, 30, 41, 48, 54, with Powerball 4. No one matched all six numbers to win the jackpot, pushing the estimated prize for the next Powerball drawing on Wednesday, Aug. 5, to $786 million, with a cash option of $341.6 million.
The Gaithersburg winner is among 15 $50,000 Powerball winners sold in Maryland since the jackpot began rolling in May. During that same period, Maryland has also produced two $1 million Powerball winners, while players statewide have won more than $6.5 million in Powerball prizes.
