Marriott International, headquartered in Bethesda, has added another high-profile property to its portfolio with the debut of The Potomac Hotel, Autograph Collection in Washington, D.C.
The 373-room hotel, formerly known as the Salamander Washington DC, officially joined Marriott’s Autograph Collection today as part of a transition that also includes Pyramid Global Hospitality taking over management of the property. Henderson Park, which acquired the hotel in 2022, will remain the owner, while Salamander Collection Founder and CEO Sheila Johnson will continue as a minority partner.
As part of the move, the hotel will now participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, allowing guests to earn and redeem points, access member-exclusive rates and promotions, and enjoy additional benefits such as potential room upgrades.
The newly renamed Potomac Hotel will continue offering many of the amenities guests have come to expect, including 38,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, a dual-level spa, heated indoor pool, fitness center, and upscale accommodations.
The property also remains home to Dōgon, the nationally acclaimed Afro-Caribbean restaurant led by Chef Kwame Onwuachi. Since opening in 2024, the restaurant has earned recognition from Condé Nast Traveler, Food & Wine, Washingtonian, and North America’s 50 Best Restaurants.

Nick Weber, CEO of Henderson Park, said the move is the next step in the company’s investment in the property. “Marriott’s global reach, combined with Autograph Collection’s commitment to distinctive, independent-minded hotels, will build on the property’s strong momentum for years to come,” Weber said.
Located along the Southwest waterfront between The Wharf and the National Mall, the hotel is approximately 15 minutes from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and within walking distance of many of the city’s most popular landmarks, museums, and memorials.
The hotel takes its new name from its location along the Potomac River and features a new swan-inspired logo reflecting the waterfront setting.
