Frederick Man Identified as Victim of Fatal Collision

Montgomery County Police have identified the man killed in a two-vehicle collision outside of Damascus Saturday morning as 67-year-old Harold Christopher Christner of Frederick.

At approximately 7:22 a.m. on August 8, 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 24000 block of Ridge Road for a serious collision involving a gray 2023 Ford Transit van and a black 2024 Chrysler Pacifica.

Police said Christner was a restrained second-row passenger in the Chrysler and was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation determined that the Ford was traveling northbound on Ridge Road while the Chrysler was traveling southbound when they collided approximately 440 feet north of Hawkes Road.

The driver of the Ford and four remaining occupants of the Chrysler, three adults and one child, were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said alcohol or drug impairment is not suspected at this time.

The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash. Police said the investigation could take several weeks to months to complete.
