A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder at The Angry Jerk in downtown Silver Spring last month, according to Montgomery County Police.
Police said Mark Reginald Melton, of no fixed address, entered the men’s restroom at the restaurant in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue at approximately 10:34 p.m. on Friday, July 10, and stabbed a victim multiple times before leaving the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the business and identified Melton as the suspect during the investigation. Police obtained an arrest warrant charging him with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and related charges.
Melton was arrested in Washington, D.C., by the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Task Force. He was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
