Beer Trade Co. will celebrate the grand opening of its first Maryland location on Saturday, August 15, with an afternoon of local beer tastings, food and drink specials, giveaways and more.
The grand opening celebration will take place from 2pm-5pm at 6860 Olney Laytonsville Road in the Red Barn Shops. The event will feature local beer tastings, food and drink specials, face painting, raffles and gift card giveaways. Beer Trade Co. will also give away a golf foursome, and the first 60 customers will receive free on-demand Beer Trade Co. T-shirt printing.
The Laytonsville restaurant officially opened in July, taking over the former home of The Office. It is the first Maryland location for the Florida-based craft beer concept and represents a homecoming for founder Chris Sanchez and business partner Niko Tombros.
Both grew up in the Silver Spring area and graduated from James Hubert Blake High School in 2002. Sanchez later relocated to Florida and founded Beer Trade Co. in 2014.
Beer Trade Co. operates on an honor-based model that combines elements of a neighborhood bar and bottle shop. Customers can browse a large selection of craft beer, grab drinks directly from refrigerated display cases and settle their tabs when they are ready to leave.
The food menu includes burgers, chicken sandwiches, burritos and wings. During our first look in July, Mr. MoCo tried the Jambalaya Burrito, Korean Beef Burrito and signature “H-Job” wings, along with a MoCo Lite and a Surfside.
The Korean Beef Burrito was the standout among the burritos, while the H-Job wings earned a 10 out of 10 and immediately entered the conversation among some of the best wings we’ve tried in Montgomery County.
According to Sanchez, the philosophy behind Beer Trade Co. has always been simple: “Grab a beer and chill.” After more than a decade of operating the concept in Florida, Sanchez has brought Beer Trade Co. back to the area where he grew up.
Saturday’s grand opening celebration runs from 2pm-5pm at 6860 Olney Laytonsville Road in Laytonsville.
