The Lakeforest redevelopment could eventually welcome several locally based restaurant chains, along with a bookstore and brewery, according to the Washington Business Journal.
The publication reports that WRS Inc., the developer behind the $1.2 billion redevelopment of the former Lakeforest Mall property, is currently courting a handful of restaurant chains based in the Greater Washington area. Kevin Rogers of WRS said securing those restaurants could help attract additional retailers to the project.
The former mall was fully demolished in June, clearing the way for a mixed-use neighborhood expected to include approximately 1,600 residential units and more than 470,000 SF of commercial space. Home Depot, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Landmark Theatre have already been confirmed for the redevelopment.
Additional plans include restaurants, retail, entertainment, parks, public gathering spaces, and a relocated Lakeforest Transit Center. Additional specific businesses have not yet been announced.
