United States Capitol Police arrested a California man Tuesday afternoon after officers discovered a guillotine in the bed of a pickup truck near the U.S. Capitol.
According to USCP, officers noticed the illegally parked truck shortly after 3pm on August 25 in the 100 block of East Capitol Street.
The driver, identified as 35-year-old Philan-Tam-Duy Le of Julian, California, was arrested and charged with carrying a dangerous weapon in connection with the guillotine.
Police said Le drove to Washington, D.C., from California. Investigators are reviewing his background and working to determine why he traveled to the nation’s capital.
