Colony Grill has closed its restaurant at Cabin John Village in Potomac after a little more than three years in business. The location was the Connecticut-based pizza restaurant’s only outpost in Maryland.
A recorded message on the restaurant’s phone line confirms the closure, stating, “The lease at this location is not being extended and the restaurant is now closed.” Customers are directed to Colony Grill’s Arlington location at 2800 Clarendon Blvd. Colony Grill opened the 4,800 SF restaurant at 11325 Seven Locks Rd in June 2023. The space included seating for approximately 175 guests across its dining room, bar and patio.
Founded in Stamford, Connecticut, in 1935, Colony Grill is known for its thin-crust “bar pies” and signature hot oil topping, a spicy pepper-infused oil that can be added to any combination of toppings. The restaurant’s limited menu also included gluten-free crust, a salad pie and an all-day breakfast pie with bacon or sausage, egg and cheese.
The Potomac restaurant also featured a “Wall of Heroes” displaying photographs of military veterans and first responders, a tradition inspired by the World War II history of the original Colony Grill location. At the time of its opening, the company described Cabin John Village as its first investment in Maryland. The restaurant remained open for just over three years before closing.
