HeyTea Pokes Fun at Delayed Opening, Announces Winter Debut of Second Montgomery County Location

HeyTea is now expected to open its second Montgomery County location this winter after its debut at Westfield Montgomery was pushed back from the previously announced fall timeframe.

The shop has installed signage reading “coming soon slowly,” poking fun at the location’s slower-than-expected progress. The signage lists winter 2026 as the anticipated opening timeframe. Originally announced in February, HeyTea will take over the space previously occupied by Luggage Plus at the Bethesda mall.

HeyTea opened its first Montgomery County location in June at 891-F Rockville Pike in Wintergreen Plaza. The opening attracted large crowds, with lines stretching through the shopping center.

Founded in Guangdong, China, in 2012, HeyTea has since expanded internationally. Its first U.S. location opened on Broadway in New York City, followed by additional stores in California and the Washington, DC area.

The brand is known for specialty teas combining fresh ingredients, fruit flavors and its signature cheese foam topping. Its menu includes Coconut Mango Boom, Triple Supreme Matcha Latte, Supreme Brown Sugar Bobo Milk Tea, Jasmine Milk Tea and Grape Boom.
