Beloved Maryland Diner Announces Permanent Closure

Mountain View Diner, located at 1300 W Patrick St., has permanently closed after serving the Frederick area for more than 25 years.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share the permanent closure of Mountain View Diner,” the restaurant announced Thursday. “We are deeply grateful to the community and staff for your loyalty and patronage over the last 26 years. It has been an honor to serve you. Thank you for being a part of our journey.”

The diner had been closed for a couple of months before this announcement. On July 8, the restaurant announced that it was temporarily closed until further notice due to roof issues.

Mountain View Diner offered traditional American diner staples alongside Greek and Italian dishes, housemade desserts and all-day breakfast selections including country-fried steak, omelets and pancakes. The restaurant was long considered a local destination for late-night meals and hearty breakfasts. Its announcement did not provide additional details about the decision to close permanently.
