NBC Washington is adding a noon newscast as part of several programming changes at WRC, according to reporting by NewscastStudio.com. DCRTV reports that this will be the first time in 30 years that the station will have news in that timeslot.
The new broadcast will follow the station’s existing 11am newscast, which will retain its “Midday” branding. The addition will give viewers in Montgomery County and across the Washington region another option for local news during the day.
The noon newscast will replace “Access Daily.” Other afternoon changes include moving “Dateline” repeats from 2pm to 1pm and adding a second hour of “NBC News Daily” to fill the remaining hour.
The station is also changing its overnight lineup, replacing the 3:30am airing of “Access Hollywood” with “Early Today.” A launch date and anchor lineup for the new noon broadcast were not included in the information reported by NewscastStudio.
