19-Year-Old Maryland Man Wins $4.2 Million Lottery Jackpot

A 19-year-old Riverdale man has claimed a $4.2 million Multi-Match jackpot after purchasing the winning ticket at Town Center Market in Riverdale.

The winner, who graduated from high school last year and has been working as an electrician’s apprentice, told the Maryland Lottery that he occasionally purchases Multi-Match tickets because of the game’s odds and because it is offered only in Maryland.

After learning that a jackpot-winning ticket had been sold at his usual Lottery retailer, he checked his ticket online several times before realizing he was the winner. “I was dumbfounded. I just kept checking,” he said. “I was like, ‘Wow!’”

He then shared the news with his mother, father and sister. The 19-year-old claimed his $4.2 million prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on September 8.

The winner said he plans to use the money to buy a house for his family and establish a strong financial foundation for his future. “It can open the door,” he said.

Town Center Market, located at 4705 Queensbury Road, will receive a $4,200 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
