Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division have charged 23-year-old Daymonte Antonyio Jones of District Heights in connection with a 2022 carjacking in Silver Spring that left a woman with significant injuries.
According to police, 3rd District officers responded to the 8700 block of Georgia Avenue at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, for a reported carjacking.
Investigators determined that the victim returned to her vehicle and found a suspect sitting in the driver’s seat. An altercation followed, during which the victim was dragged along the roadway and suffered significant injuries.
The suspect then fled in the victim’s vehicle. Police said the vehicle crashed following a brief pursuit into Washington, D.C.
Through the investigation, detectives identified Jones as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with carjacking.
Jones was arrested on Monday, August 31, 2026, more than four years after the carjacking. He is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
